ClockworkPi Devices I had purchased a CM5 to put into either my DevTerm or uConsole, but didn’t realize the ClockworkPi core doesn’t let me just swap it out. I need to get the RPI CM4 Adapter for DevTerm & CPI v3.14, which should take the CM5 as well.. guess i’ll find that part out too. The above made me remember to actually pick my PicoCalc back up to play with. I want to revisit JBlanked’s Picoware OS, since I had just a few issues with it earlier, but now see there’s a v.1.3.0 that was released a few days ago. Hopefully this will fix the issues I was having. ClockworkPi Forum: Picoware (Open-Source Custom Firmware) Containers (Podman, Docker, etc) A friend was trying to get BookStack working with Podman but was running into some issues. It made me want to re-look at Podman, just to see if I would move from Docker. Since I used this week to turn back on some of my Raspberry Pi’s, I can easily get Podman on one of them to test with. Meshtastic \ LoRa After reading about some HackerPager users swapping the battery for a larger one, I figured I’d try to do the same. Tomorrow i should have a 3000mAh battery I can use to replace the included 1100mAh. I think I’ve been getting a little less than a day on a charge (maybe less), so this should hopefully help with that =] Since i was already purchasing the battery, I saw the MakerFocus ESP32 LoRa V3 Development Board available for pretty cheap, & decided to add that to the order so I can at least have 2 LoRa nodes, to play around a bit. Haven’t had luck finding other nodes in my area yet… I’m hoping that will change. I’ve also been trying to get into a bit of photography myself. I don’t recall if I ordered the 100 or 300 version, but guess i will find out soon, once shipping starts for the camera. Raspberry Pi I’m starting to put some of my Pi’s back online that i never set back up after the move. That had me trying to get my Arducam 16MP working with my RasPi4 & I’m not sure if I needed to be using Raspbian over Ubuntu, but I was finally able to get it working. Arducam: Quick Start Guide: Use rpicam to access Arducam Pivariety Camera I didn’t realize i didn’t have a RasPi5 adapter with the increased voltage, so i found out the hard way that it won’t boot off USB devices unless the config.txt is modified. Instead of running off MicroSD cards, I prefer to use a USB external SSD for my Pi’s, so I don’t have to worry about the cards burning out. Once I did get the proper adapter, modified the config.txt to try & get my camera working here, it takes AGES to start back up… i was about to wipe the device & start from scratch before testing one more time & the system was back up. With both of these Pi’s + cameras working again, I got Syncthing setup on both & created a new function \ alias there, to make taking photos easier \ quicker. When I run rpicam-photo it will take the photo & drop it into a specific Syncthing folder, so that all my devices get the photos, no need to manually transfer off the Pi’s. selfh.st: Self-Host Weekly (22 August 2025) Projects from selfh.st that i want to look into.
