GitHub: Local Mess: Disclosure: Covert Web-to-App Tracking via Localhost on Android: “We disclose a novel tracking method by Meta and Yandex potentially affecting billions of Android users. We found that native Android apps—including Facebook, Instagram, and several Yandex apps including Maps and Browser—silently listen on fixed local ports for tracking purposes.”
I found an old iPad Air 2 of mine where the highest OS it can be upgraded to is 15.8.3. So to get some use out of it (pretty much plan to use it as a panel for the house or photo frame), i figured i would jailbreak it as well.
I had to jump through a few hoops, but I think I’m in a good state now… TrollInstallerX isn’t compatible with the iPad Air 2 @ 15.8.3, so while I was able to use Sideloady to get it on there, all I saw was an “Unsupported” button instead of “Jailbreak”. So i used Sideloady to just directly load Dopamine, jailbreak through there & install Sileo & Zebra, installed TrollHelper to get TrollStore, then installed Dopamine from there… as I type this out I am fully expecting problems because of how many hoops I jumped through on this, but I guess we’ll find out in 7 days. As long as I can load my custom root certificate & visit internal sites, that’s all i really care about anyway.
